Onsite Sewage Disposal

Florida Department of Health in Manatee County

Environmental Health provides services for all new construction of onsite sewage disposal and treatment systems (septic tanks), including:

  • Site evaluations
  • Plan reviews
  • Construction permitting and inspections

Environmental Health also inspects all system repairs and tank abandonments.

Septage service-providing facilities are also required to be permitted and inspected annually, including:

  • Septage-pumping companies
  • Portable toilet service companies
  • Septic tank manufacturers
  • Septage treatment companies

Environmental Heath also monitors and inspects septage land spreading sites and commercial facilities utilizing onsite sewage disposal and treatment (septic) systems for sewer waste. Environmental Health works with the Manatee County Department of Planning, Permitting and Inspections in reviewing proposed subdivisions for septic tank use. Enforcement of mandatory sewer connections is also coordinated with the Manatee County Department of Public Works.
