The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County (DOH-Manatee) works closely with the county commissioners, Manatee County’s Emergency Management Division, and other local and federal agencies to protect the health and welfare of our county’s residents and visitors.
Legislative intent
DOH-Manatee is a state agency that is part of the Florida Department of Health and is governed by Chapter 154, Florida Statutes. The Florida Legislature designed the statute with the intent that county health departments (CHDs) have a unique partnership between the state and the counties to meet public health needs . To strengthen this partnership, the CHDs and the counties enter into a contractual arrangement, which is renewed annually.
