Florida Healthy Babies

Florida Department of Health in Manatee County

This initiative is a coordinated to promote the health and well-being of the youngest members of our community.

The Florida Department of Health in Manatee County is working with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program  as well as other community partners to support breastfeeding families, ensuring that babies are given the best possible start in life.

Another key component of the program is the extensive effort to provide safe infant sleep education for expectant and new mothers and the rest of their support network.

The Healthy Babies initiative continues to assist local efforts, monitors emerging research, and determines how to expand best practices statewide. Although Florida has experienced declining morbidity and mortality rates among infants, disparities persist. The Department is committed to eliminating these differences.
